Abstract
A descriptive observational study of two cases was conducted to evaluate the effect of epidural oxygen-ozone (O₂-O₃) injection in dogs with chronic debilitating pain and degenerative thoracolumbar diseases.
Materials and methods: Two dogs were treated with epidural injection of an O₂-O₃ mixture at a concentration of 5 µg/ml and a volume of 2 to 3 ml after being clinically diagnosed with acute or chronic thoracolumbar pain associated with radiologically evidenced spondylosis.
Results: Within 48 hours of treatment, a significant improvement in pain was observed. Both dogs recovered gait function, and no recurrence was observed. It is concluded that epidural injection of O2-O3 can contain pain, manage neurological signs, and decompress the affected discs
